CBS Schedule Importer Add-in for Revit

From the Autodesk Exchange Apps website...

The purpose of the CBS Schedule Importer is to create Autodesk® Revit® rooms and populate or update the Revit room parameters with values from an Excel file containing a schedule of accommodation.

A standard CodeBook Pro Project database is created during the import process. If doing a one off import, this file can be discarded. However, if retained, it can be used, on a future occasion, to update the previously imported rooms with changes made to the source Excel file.

The CodeBook Pro Project database can also be used with the CodeBook Pro software, taking advantage of the full functionality of libraries, templates and synchronization that CodeBook Pro provides.

Process:

  1. Create the Excel schedule of accommodation.
  2. Select the Excel file and define which Excel column should be mapped onto which Revit room parameter.
  3. Define the target CodeBook Project database details.
  4. Run the import.

Alternatively, rather than using a schedule of accommodation created in Excel, a template file can be created from an existing Revit model. Additional columns of data can be added, or values edited. This can then be used to update the Revit project, taking advantage of the convenience of data editing with Excel.

Reforma Swing Direction Add-in: Schedule Door Swings in Autodesk Revit

From the Islandic company Snertill comes the Reforma Swing Direction add-in...

"When using the Revit® default Flip Controls for door instances, Revit® will automatically read and display swing direction values (Left, Right, Double etc.) both when you flip the door hand and facing and also if you mirror a door. In the Door Swing Settings Dialog box you simply specify your own project default values for each swing direction and then assign it to all door families loaded in the project. A Door Swing Direction parameter is automatically created when you use the Reforma Swing Direction tool. When you flip a door instance the changes occurs instantly, there is no need to manually update the doors after flipping them. Swing Direction values are consistent inside Revit® Groups as well. The Swing Direction values can be automatically displayed in door schedules. The values you specify are project specific, you can save your project values to an .XML file and load that values into other projects if desired. Users cannot change the Swing Direction parameter value in the door instance properties window nor in door schedules, changes has to be done in the Door Swing Settings Dialog box to maintain consistency in the project. Additionally, when you link a Revit® file into another Revit® file (host file) the Swing Direction values in the linked file will persist in the host file.

"Reforma Help file is included with the add-in."

SAuBIM - Code Calcs v2.0 Add-in for Revit Released

New In Version 2.0:

From the developer of SAuBIM Jeff Pinheiro, he of the excellent The Revit Kid blog, and co-developer Fredy Teyssedou...

"We teamed up with Harry [Mattison] from Boost Your BIM to create an integrated Add-In for Revit 2013 and 2014.  No more closing and opening Revit.  Simply click and go!"

SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 for Autodesk® Revit® Architecture is a compact, easy to use, and time saving program.  Autodesk® Revit® Architecture is a BIM (Building Information Modeling) program and can be very powerful when pulling the right information in and out.  SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 takes advantage of the information in your BIM model and saves you hours of time.

What does it do?

SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 streamlines two very tedious processes when completing a building model: building code calculations and floor plans.

Code Compliance Floor Plan Tags

There is a major link that has not existed, and still does not exist, in Autodesk® Revit® Architecture.  This link is the ability to display calculated data from a schedule into a Tag or Symbol on your floor plans.  Well, SAuBIM takes care of this for you when it comes to Occupancy Tags on Code Compliance floor plans.

SAuBIM will create the required schedules to automatically calculate the following items:

  • Occupancy Loads (Per Room)
  • Required Male Water Closets
  • Required Female Water Closets
  • Required Lavatories
  • Required Drinking Fountains

Egan Room Area Tools Add-in for Revit

This app facilitates room area comparisons, automates and displays occupant load calculations on room tags and calculates and displays major room dimensions on room tags.

What you can expect from the Egan Room Area Tools application:

Room Area Comparisons: Reliable Area

This app supplements the Revit room area with a “Reliable Area,” so that rooms “Not Placed” and rooms “Not Enclosed” are given a zero area instead of a null value. Now these rooms can be included in calculations like program area comparisons.

Occupant Load Calculations

This app provides an occupant load calculation that is always up-to-date and displays on room tags in real time. No more convoluted workarounds for code information. For rooms with fixed occupant loads, the automatic process can be skipped and entered manually.

Room Dimensions and Room Dimension Tags

Provides for a room dimension tag. Uses the distance apart of the two longest boundary lines and places this information on room tags. For unusually shaped rooms, the automated dimensioning may be skipped and entered manually.

Batch Updating

Provides a Batch Update Process to bring your projects up-to-date.

Sample Room Tags

Provides sample tags for you to load into your project.

Trial Information:

This Trial download provides a 30-day, full-functioning version of the app. After this time, you will need to purchase a one-year subscription license in order to continue use the app.

Knock Knock Add-in for Revit - Easy Door Instance Parameter Editing

"Knock Knock is designed for editing the values of door instance parameters, not for changing the way your door schedule is set up. The primary way Knock Knock does this is by making text parameters act like Yes\No parameters. With a simple click users can change parameters values between multiple pre-defined values. There are more features as well."

Free Excitech Revit Toolkit - Coordinate Scheduling & Element Renumbering

Revit Coordinate Scheduling Tool

The FREE Excitech Revit Coordinate Scheduling application is a powerful tool for Revit Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP that will enable users to automatically acquire precise X, Y and Z coordinates from certain Revit objects.

This allows users to more rapidly produce schedules of, for example, piling and services; as well as to publish coordinates for complex geometry across 3D space.

The coordinates are added to the objects element properties which will allow schedules to be generated and tags to be placed.

The application has been designed to publish X,Y and Z coordinates to selected object categories and store these within the objects instance properties.

To maintain the accuracy of the coordinates the Excitech Revit Coordinate Scheduling Tool has the following built-in checks which will prompt the user when performing one of the below operations.
  • Viewing Schedule Tables
  • Printing
  • Saving Documents
  • Saving As
  • Opening a document
  • Exporting a file
  • Closing Documents
  • Synchronising with the Central File

Element Renumber Utility - NEW for Revit 2013 Toolkit!

The new Element Renumber facility is an extremely useful new tool going beyond a limited discipline-specific solution.

This tool has the capability of renumbering any category in Revit and it can utilise room numbering information in this process. So for example you could renumber all doors sequentially through your ground floor.  For example, your model has room 1, 2 and 3, with 2 doors in each; one option would be to automatically number them 1-1, 1-2, 2-1, 2-2, 3-1, 3-2.
Another example use would be structural engineers renumbering piles automatically; or a building services engineer numbering lighting fixtures, the later could again include the room numbers if required.

You can also add filters, prefixes, suffixes, zero padding and much more.

In testing our customers have commented how useful this new functionality is in extracting that critical efficiency gain from your BIM system.

There's more information available on the Excitech website.

External Wall Directions (Free Case App for May 2012)

This tool comes in as a request from the Passive House design community and solves the problem of reporting the external wall directionality in either text (N, NW, S, etc.) or by angle. The angle values use project North as 0 winding clockwise back around to 360. The resulting data can then be pushed into a user specified text formatted parameter. The angle option can be written to either a text or number formatted parameter.

Look for a future update that will include external doors and windows hosted within external walls soon (no promises).

This free add-in can be downloaded from the Case Apps website.

Free DoorSwing Add-in for Schedules

Door From and To Value in Schedule - Free Revit Tool

Currently, Revit does not update Door's From/To room information in a door schedule if you flip door in the plan view. This behavior is intentional. However if you want to update all doors from/to room information automatically then use the following tool that I have developed based on the SDK DoorSwing sample.

The add-in may be downloaded from Rahul Shah's Revit Sticky Notes blog.

Free Add-ins from Case

Case, the well regarded BIM consulting firm out of New York, has released several free add-ins for Revit Architecture 2012:

Change and Replace Line Styles

Have you ever imported a DWG file into your model and got a bunch of unwanted line styles? Have you ever wanted to quickly change those line styles to your standard styles already loaded into your model? This little guy does just this!

Revision Cloud Data Export to Text File

As you are all surely aware, Revit does not offer a means to schedule individual revision cloud elements. This tool will export all instances of Revision Clouds along with the revision name, date, and description that they belong to. The view and/or sheet that the cloud element is on is also exported along with the comment data entered directly onto the element. This tool rocks for blasting a quick revision report for your revision related needs.

Door Mark Updater

This little guy uses the room number of the room adjacent to the door to number each door mark parameter. Where multiple doors are along a common room number, the remaining doors are numbered alphabetically suffix of the room number (1001A, 1001B, etc.). You will have the option to update doors by selection, common level, or the entire model all in a single click.

These free add-ins can be downloaded from the case apps website.

WhiteFeet Revit Utilities - A Veritable Cornucopia of Tools

The WhiteFeet Revit Utilities toolset is composed of a collection of small, generally independent, programs that have each been created to address a specific need.  Typically, a project would encounter a problem, or envision an opportunity, that suggested a customization.  A tool was developed to address this need, but in a way that was slightly more general, so that it could be used in other ways and on other projects.

Sheet Manager

Sheet Manager links to an Excel file or (less commonly) an Access database. Based on this data, it creates or updates sheets in Revit as a bulk editing process. The tool can also be used to export data, renumber sheets, and place views on sheets.

It is also useful for maintaining “dummy” sheet lists of consultant drawings, whose only purpose is to populate the sheet schedule.
