The Week that was in Revit Add-ons for September 24-30, 2018

For the first time in a long time, we "got on our horse and rode" this week, publishing a sufficient number of posts (twenty) to justify this article. For the past five months or so, we've been challenged as your faithful editor has struggled with health issues. During that time, we've almost exclusively covered add-ins published on the Autodesk App Store, which are low-hanging fruit and kind of our baseline (these add-ins are also covered in our App Store roundups).

We hope to be back on track now!

New

Back on September 20, we learned that the Revit Extensions for Autodesk Revit add-in from Autodesk had been discontinued, with some aspects being handed off to the third party companies AGACAD, hsbcadStrucSoft and Symetri (owners of the Naviate family of products), and that they would be releasing free add-ins for Revit 2019 users. Looking into this deeper drove much of our activity this week...

We had varying degrees of familiarity with these four companies, from having StrucSoft as an advertiser (thank you!) to having posted five years ago about an early version of Naviate (when it was a single product from CAD-Q).

Of the four companies, only one has released their new product, AGACAD with their free Wood Framing LT.

AGACAD also seems to be going through a restructuring or realignment of their products, leading us to also post about their following new or newly rebranded offerings.

We'll be posting about more new AGACAD products, for metal framing, next week. We also plan on updating our AGACAD product roundup then.

Symetri's new free offering will be Naviate Rebar Extension, expected around the end of the year.

In the meantime, we posted for the first time about their following products.

StrucSoft's new product offering, MWF Pro Wood Lite, is marked on their website as coming soon.

For hsbcad, it's not clear to us what their new offering is or will be. We'll reach out to them next week for more information. Stay tuned.

From the Autodesk App Store, a single new add-in was published during the week, Easy Modelling for Landscape Surfaces.

Updated

From the App Store, we posted about Find and Replace Materials v1.4.0, ReluxCAD for Autodesk® Revit® v2018.2.3.0, and rvt2skp PRO v2.2.0.9.
