Free Webinar June 19 – What's New in MWF

From the email announcement:

MWF Webinar: What's New in MWF

Wednesday, June 19 at 2PM EST

You may of noticed that there were quite a few new features (24!) included in our latest MWF build. Because of this, this month's webinar will be part 1 of 2 and will focus on just that - the new features within MWF.

Revit® based, MWF (or Metal Wood Framer) is capable of framing virtually any project from single family homes to large scale multi-family structures, allowing for the creation of custom framing to define all aspects of wall, floor and roof framing in an automated fashion. Users can then export cut lists, shop drawings and output to their light gauge steel roll formers and/or automated wood saws.
Here's what we'll go over in more detail:
  • Place Ladder Joins
  • Line Based Blocking/Backing (video)
  • Lock Panel (video)
  • Insertion of holdowns with the hole for threaded rod at top and bottom of panel
  • ATS Stud Pack
  • Insertion of anchor bolts
  • Ability to generate a BOM for MEP as well as dimensioning of MEP

Smart Unhide Elements for Autodesk® Revit®

Editor's Note: This add-in has likely been around for a little while, but, owing to our confusion between this add-in for Revit and the similarly named one for Navisworks from the same publisher, Smart Unhide Elements for Autodesk® Navisworks®, we're posting about the Revit version here for the first time.

From the Autodesk App Store:

Finally, a smart tool to unhide elements by selecting them on a list.

You will never have to "REVEAL HIDDEN ELEMENTS" just to find a few elements hidden in a view or views.

With "Smart Unhide Elements" you can preview the element information, the Selection Tree location and the Grid Location, to pick the correct element.

Also, you can use the ‘Filter’ option and quickly find the elements to unhide.

This app can help you to improve the way you work in Autodesk® Revit® 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.

RevisionAndCloudEz

From the Autodesk App Store:

This add-in includes the following functions:
  • Add or remove revision to sheet
  • Check current revision or which revision is on the sheet
  • Export sheet including a revision to Excel
  • Import revision to sheet from Excel
  • Modify revision sequence, comments, and mark for revision cloud

Warning Manager (Updated)

From the Autodesk App Store:

The warning message has one of the biggest impacts on the Autodesk® Revit® model quality and speed. When you have a lot of warnings it slows you down dramatically.

The default warning list of Revit is currently not efficient enough to show the errors to fix. This new tool will help you to manage all warning messages on Revit models with Isolate and create a Bounding box around the error Elements.

The number of error types is also displayed in a built-in Pie chart to help you quickly understand which type of major error on your model you need to focus more.

Free Batch Detach Model (Detach Multiple Central Files)

From the Autodesk App Store:

Usually, when you want to detach the central Autodesk® Revit® model, you have to do it manually and 1 by 1.

With our cool add-in, you can do it automatically just by selecting the input Central Revit model and the location to save the detached files.

Super Massive Roundup – For Mar 4 - May 19, 2019, New and Updated Revit-Related Add-Ins on the Autodesk App Store

Hi folks, your friendly neighborhood editor Tim here. It's been a crazy spring for me. As I shared here previously, I first took on a project for an add-in developer that proved to be more challenging than expected. Later I joined that developer, StrucSoft Solutions, as a regular employee (as Customer Success Manager).

In addition to these (understandable) demands on my time, I got sick about 5 weeks ago, and am still trying to recover. Initially, we thought it was the flu, but now we think it to be bacterial in nature. Fortunately, with the right medications, I think I'm finally on the mend.

We've been working hard to get back to our baseline, which is to say, caught up with the Autodesk App Store. It's been especially challenging because, during the period I was convalescing, Revit 2020 was released. Add that to how busy our community normally is and you get one looooong list of new and updated add-ins... 😲

OBJ Importer for Autodesk® Navisworks®

From the Autodesk App Store:

Vertices are stored in a counter-clockwise order by default, making explicit declaration of face normals unnecessary. OBJ coordinates have no units, but OBJ files can contain scale information in a human readable comment line.

YOU CAN USE THIS PLUGIN AS STANDALONE AS WELL. PLEASE CONTACT.

About the plugin:
The plugin allows you to import OBJ file to Navisworks. The OBJ file format is a simple data-format that represents 3D geometry. It contains the model's triangle (vertices, indices) data and material data.

Visit our website for more information: http://www.visionworkplace.com

All issues can contain viewpoints with camera position and relevant objects. This allows you to zoom-to the issue-location, highlighting the problematic components in whatever BIM-tool you are.

Auto Numbering v2.0

From the Autodesk App Store:

Digitteck® AutoNumbering™

(App presentation: https://prezi.com/p/zj-ygxgwkwr7/)

Wasted time in the workplace has become a hot topic of discussion, and businesses are consistently varying to shape their workforce into a well-oiled maximum efficiency machine.

Many organizations are missing opportunities to automate business processes that can save their employees’ time and boost productivity.

With AutoNumbering you will save time by having the app doing the numbering job for you.

You have multiple options available to you for selecting the type of element you target for renumbering. You can choose to renumber Doors/Windows/Rooms or manually select the Family and Family Type.

You can choose between 3 renumbering algorithms:
  • Straight - this algorithm uses one direction (line). For each item in the filtered selection, it determines it's projection on this line. The elements are renumbered from one side of the line or the other. To read more about this check the Algorithm For Strategy Straight page in the help file.
  • Straight with strips -  this algorithm uses the same logic as the strategy straight. The points are projected on the direction for numbering. But instead of using only one line, a set of lines are created, elements are grouped inside these lines are groups are treated separately.
  • By Curve - this algorithm allows you to define multiple paths that will guide the numbering process. The algorithm will determine which elements correspond to which path (closest). Then it will project the elements to their corresponding path. The numbering is made by following the curve from start to end. Read more in the help file.
