Selection Set Creator Add-in for Navisworks

From the Autodesk App Store:

A useful tool for creating search sets and selection sets. Just select the properties category and save sets. It can be created easily by selectiing the model’s properties by one click. You don’t’ need to save them one by one.

The major functions include
  • Easy creation of selection sets: Just select model’s properties category. You can create selection sets by properties name.
  • Easy creation search sets export XML: you don’t need to use find Items function. just select the properties name of the one you want to create.

You can also save search sets for another file or revision files.

Free BIMCAVE Auto Search Set Add-in for Navisworks

Search Sets are very powerful tool and can be used in many ways in Autodesk® Navisworks®. However it is generally time consuming to create multiple Search Sets for different value of a property. This App does the job for you and Auto creates the Search Sets.The App creates multiple Search Sets in a very short time for using in Clash Detection, Auto-Attach to Timeliner, Create Viewpoints, Hide/Unhide Elements easily and even for many more function. You may simply use to create Search Set for every Element Type or MEP Systems. Moreover if you have parameters defined, you may create your Search Sets for BOQ items or WBS codes in one click.

You may create Search Sets for Entire Project or for only Selected Items. Also you can use the Contains option to create Search Sets that contains the value of the property.

Free Spools To Search Sets Add-in for Navisworks

Search sets can provide useful tools to help the personnel in the field locate a piece of fabrication in the model.  In order for this workflow to be used, the spool names must be located on a property that is exposed in Autodesk® Navisworks®.  An example of this would be on Fabrication CADmep+ parts.  The actual "Spool Name" data is not exposed in Navisworks as a property, but the "Notes" data is.  The same workflow can be used for Revit Elements or any other part that has the spool name on a property exposed in Navisworks.  For more on how to make this process work for you, and for a tool to automatically put the data in the "Spool Name" field into the "Notes" field for Fabrication MEP, see the post "Creating Navis Spool Search Sets".  The "Spool To Search Set" tool will go through the model and find the unique property values on different parts in the model.  This can be done either through a selection, or on the entire model.
