Free Get Linked Project Base Point and Survey Point

From the Autodesk App Store:

Shows the location and coordinates of the Project Base Point in a linked model.

Also works with Linked Survey Points.

This allows you to quickly check if all your models are correctly located.

Managing a project with multiple linked models can be a real mess. Previously, there was no easy way in Autodesk® Revit® to see if a linked model's Project Base Point was matching with your model's Project Base Point. Also, it was not possible to see a linked project's coordinates.

Now, it is possible using this tool!

You just need 2 clicks to use this add-in :
  • Start the add-in (2 commands: "Get linked Project Base Point" or "Get linked Survey Point")
  • Click on the desired Revit link instance

BIM 360 Team Model Compare

From the CadLine website:

Managing changes between old and new models can be challenging. At times, changes can be overlooked due to the complexity of models and can have an impacting effect on the design. Many of our customers used to and continue to use Autodesk Design Review to compare their 2D drawings. This is particularly useful as a quick cursory check over the changes. Now in a model based environment, there are tools available throughout the Autodesk portfolio to help track and identify changes. One tool which I find to be particularly useful is the model compare tool within BIM360 Team. The model compare allows users to identify changes very quickly and provides the ability to turn elements on and off for extra clarity. I have put together a short video outlining the features it provides.

Increasing Construction Layout Accuracy with Coordinated Real Time BIM Models

From Engineering.com:

Increasing Construction Layout Accuracy By Means of Coordinated Real Time BIM Models

June 12, 2017
By Marc Howe

Autodesk’s BIM 360 Layout promises to enhance the construction layout process by providing contractors access to coordinated real-time point models in the field via their cloud-connected smart devices.

The software permits users to upload models with layout points directly onto their iPads from other Autodesk offerings, such as AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks. It then improves the accuracy and efficiency of construction layout tasks by connecting these iPads to a total station, then making it easier to locate and verify point locations on the building site itself.

Cloud connectivity ensures that the coordinated models are kept both up-to-date and accessible for all project team members during the process of layout in the field, ensuring accuracy and the avoidance of errors.

The software provides real-time model navigation for performing a range of project functions, including layout, quality assurance and control, and as built-collection on the job site.

BIM Track Version 1.11 for Navisworks and Revit

From the Autodesk App Store:

About This Version

Version 1.11, 6/20/2017

This release aims at vastly improving the 3D viewer’s performance. By introducing new technologies such as progressive rendering and frustum culling, we have pushed the limits of our viewer to an higher level. A variety of changes were also introduced to increase the user experience in general. See below for a full list of changes.

New Features:
  • Progressive rendering was added to the 3D viewer. This should vastly increase the viewer’s performance on complexes models. Please note that it’s possible to increase/decrease the progressive rendering strength in the option menu. When needed, the viewer will hide some elements in the model to allow a smoother navigation on complexes models and these elements will reappear progressively depending on your rendering priorities preferences as soon as the navigation stops.
  • An option menu was added for the progressive rendering where it’s possible to specify your own rendering order preferences. If you are currently reviewing HVAC issues, moving the HVAC to the top in the rendering priority will ensure that HVAC elements are displayed first.
  • An option called ‘Frustum culling’ was added to the 3D viewer. This option aims to improve the 3D viewer performance on large scale projects. When enabled, every element that lies outside of the viewing area will not be systematically rendered.
  • The ‘Fullscsreen’ option within the 3D viewer will now act as a real fullscreen instead of simply collapsing the left hand-side panel.
  • It is now possible to upload and display multiple models that use different unit systems.
  • To enlarge the viewing area, the left-hand panel will now collapse automatically upon entering the 3D viewer.
  • Improved error handling in the 3D viewer. The viewer will also try to recover its previous state when the browser runs out of available resources in an attempt to prevent crashes and a ‘loss of context’ from occurring.
  • Other small various changes were made to the 3D viewer to improve the user experience in general.
  • It is now possible to save a section plane with an issue in Navisworks 2017 & 2018. Interoperability for this feature is somewhat limited due to API limitations for Revit and pre-2017 versions of Navisworks.
  • Images contained in the comments of an issue are now displayed in the report.
