PointCloud to Surface

From the Autodesk App Store:

Work directly in Autodesk® Revit® with Pointcloud instances to create topo, floor, and roof elements that accurately match the original pointcloud data. Offers a decimation slider so that you can choose how many points are used to make the new surface element, for either high accuracy or high speed depending on your requirements.

This app has been designed for surveyors, architects, builders, and developers working on as-built projects. It reads laser scan data captured onsite and imported into Revit, automating the tedious process of manual point entry needed to create complex surfaces in a BIM model.

The app allows you to draw a selection box around the points of interest then select whether they should be mapped as either a topo, floor, or roof element. For roofs and floors, you can select the build type and level for the new element.

The section box can be used to filter out points on a broad scale, so by working in 3D view the section box in conjunction with the user drawn selection box allows very specific filtering of points to be added to each new element.

Works with both structured and unstructured pointcloud instances. Supports shared co-ordinate models.

Note: App must be purchased with the same Autodesk account which is used to log in to Revit or the App will not run.

Drawboard Projects

From the Autodesk App Store:

Make every Autodesk® Revit® sheet a workspace for collaborative design review.

This integration uploads sheets from a Revit project into Drawboard Projects: a live markup environment for design and drawing review.

In Drawboard Projects, internal teams and external partners can mark up, discuss and track issues on each drawing revision. The result: faster turnaround.

Projects’ live communication environment provides both transparencies to the whole project team as well as a complete version and markup history along the way. Whilst traditional design review status updates are restricted static milestones (30%, 60%, 90% complete), Projects allows real-time insight into the status of a particular review at any one point in time, allowing the team to be better positioned to catch errors earlier in the design process.

The Drawboard Projects Revit Add-in allows you to:

  • Upload sheets - Import your sheets into Projects seamlessly while preserving metadata from Revit (sheet title, number, and revision)
  • Save to desktop - Save individual PDF files to your desktop during the upload process
  • Markup, discuss, and resolve issues - Within Projects, add markups, gather timely feedback from the right people, and resolve issues with team members for traceable feedback.

Drawing Central

From the Autodesk App Store:

Drawing Central’s main purpose is to save Drafters (and Engineers) time and effort. One way to assist this noble cause, is to reduce confusion. Questions like “How many electrical drawings are ready for issue?” and “You want me to rev-up 50 drawings before lunch?” can easily be answered by creating your own drawing registration system. But “where is the register?”. More confusion. I think you get the point!

This is where Drawing Central comes in by managing a project-based configuration system to reduce confusion. It also has an extremely easy to use interface. Once your drawing has been configured it knows exactly where to find the project file and therefore the correct drawing register. This allows for the other part of the equation Automation. Now you have this “link”, you can automatically update (or sync) your drawings with the latest project data. No more confusion.

Question: Do you know how good it feels to just sit back and watch 100 title block items change before your eyes? No? Well, now you know how to find out.
