SAuBIM - Code Calcs v2.0 Add-in for Revit Released

New In Version 2.0:

From the developer of SAuBIM Jeff Pinheiro, he of the excellent The Revit Kid blog, and co-developer Fredy Teyssedou...

"We teamed up with Harry [Mattison] from Boost Your BIM to create an integrated Add-In for Revit 2013 and 2014.  No more closing and opening Revit.  Simply click and go!"

SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 for Autodesk® Revit® Architecture is a compact, easy to use, and time saving program.  Autodesk® Revit® Architecture is a BIM (Building Information Modeling) program and can be very powerful when pulling the right information in and out.  SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 takes advantage of the information in your BIM model and saves you hours of time.

What does it do?

SAuBIM – Code Calcs v2.0 streamlines two very tedious processes when completing a building model: building code calculations and floor plans.

Code Compliance Floor Plan Tags

There is a major link that has not existed, and still does not exist, in Autodesk® Revit® Architecture.  This link is the ability to display calculated data from a schedule into a Tag or Symbol on your floor plans.  Well, SAuBIM takes care of this for you when it comes to Occupancy Tags on Code Compliance floor plans.

SAuBIM will create the required schedules to automatically calculate the following items:

  • Occupancy Loads (Per Room)
  • Required Male Water Closets
  • Required Female Water Closets
  • Required Lavatories
  • Required Drinking Fountains

Egan Room Area Tools Add-in for Revit

This app facilitates room area comparisons, automates and displays occupant load calculations on room tags and calculates and displays major room dimensions on room tags.

What you can expect from the Egan Room Area Tools application:

Room Area Comparisons: Reliable Area

This app supplements the Revit room area with a “Reliable Area,” so that rooms “Not Placed” and rooms “Not Enclosed” are given a zero area instead of a null value. Now these rooms can be included in calculations like program area comparisons.

Occupant Load Calculations

This app provides an occupant load calculation that is always up-to-date and displays on room tags in real time. No more convoluted workarounds for code information. For rooms with fixed occupant loads, the automatic process can be skipped and entered manually.

Room Dimensions and Room Dimension Tags

Provides for a room dimension tag. Uses the distance apart of the two longest boundary lines and places this information on room tags. For unusually shaped rooms, the automated dimensioning may be skipped and entered manually.

Batch Updating

Provides a Batch Update Process to bring your projects up-to-date.

Sample Room Tags

Provides sample tags for you to load into your project.

Trial Information:

This Trial download provides a 30-day, full-functioning version of the app. After this time, you will need to purchase a one-year subscription license in order to continue use the app.

Egan Parametric Graphic Scale Add-in for Revit

This app provides a Parametric Graphic Scale for Revit that automatically updates each viewport’s view title.

What you can expect from the Egan Parametric Graphic Scale application:

Parametric Graphic Scale

Really! Remember how surprised you were when you learned you couldn’t do that? This app provides a Graphic Scale that you can use with little or no user attention. Works with Imperial or Metric scales.

Sample Graphic Scales

Provides sample view title families for you to load into your project and use to customize your own graphic scale.

Batch Updating

Provides a Batch Update process to help you get started.

Trial Information:

Egan View Name By Sheet Number Add-in for Revit

This app allows you to name your views the way you always wanted, but thought it was too hard to maintain. Using “Reference other view,” it displays the views in sheet and detail number order.

What you can expect from the Egan View Name By Sheet Number application:

Provides comprehensive view naming system, without the necessity of complicated rules or manual - and error prone - input from users.

When using “Reference other view,” all views are displayed in a predicable order.

When views are added to a sheet they are automatically renamed in the pattern “Sheet Number” “Detail Number” “Title on Sheet,” for example, “A1.2_3_Roof Detail.” This app uses the Title on Sheet, but does not automatically change it, to have as minimal impact on your current workflow as possible.

When views are removed from a sheet, they are renamed back to the name they had prior to being placed on the sheet.

Potential view types are Plans, Elevations/ Sections and Details. Any combination of these types may be selected.

Provides a Batch update process to help you get started and a Batch undo to restore your project to original condition if necessary.

Trial Information:

This Trial download provides a 30-day, full-functioning version of the app. After this time, you will need to purchase a one-year subscription license in order to continue use the app.

Design Master Electrical RT Add-in for Revit

Design Master Electrical RT adds electrical calculations to Autodesk® Revit® MEP.

Feeder Sizing: Feeders are size automatically based upon the upstream overcurrent protection for a piece of electrical equipment. You have complete control of the chosen feeder size and can override it when necessary.

Fault Calculations: Available fault current is calculated for each piece of electrical equipment. The calculated fault current can be used to set the AIC rating for the device.

Voltage Drop Calculations: The voltage drop is calculated between each piece of electrical equipment. Feeders that exceed the maximum 3% voltage drop allowed can be easily resized.

Arc-Flash Calculations: Arc-flash calculations are performed at each piece of electrical equipment. An arc-flash schedule can be created that displays the calculated values. Arc-flash warning labels can be printed to be put on devices in the field.

The download is a free 30-day trial. The software is fully function during that time.

Design Master Electrical RT is available for purchase on our website for $720 / year.

Free GRAPPA Addin for Revit - Automatically Generate Floor Plans Using Palladian Grammar

GRAPPA is an implementation of "The Palladian Grammar" by  Stiny and Mitchell (1978). The approach is based on graph grammars as described by Grasl (2012).

The Palladian grammar is a well-known example of a shape grammar. These can be used to systematically describe bodies of design. Here the rules that are used during the design generation can either be applied individually or they can be applied using a simple random generator.

This project demonstrates how shape grammars can be implemented for the automatic generation of designs.

Free SP.Writer Add-in Updated to Revit 2014 with New Features

"I have updated SP.Writer, the shared parameter management add-in for Revit. The entire add-in was rewritten from scratch. I’ve learned a lot over the last couple years which has enabled me to write the add-in with much fewer lines of code.

"This year we have a brand new long-awaited feature! The add-in now supports auto-categorization of parameters during the family binding process. This ability has been the single most requested feature over the last couple years. As you can see in the shot below, when using the Excel tool in combination with the add-in the parameters now appear under their correct categories, and no longer under the “Other” category."
