Free Revit Add-in for Copying Legends and Schedules to Multiple Sheets

From the LMNts website...

One of the frustrating things with Revit is that it’s sometimes difficult to do seemingly simple tasks. One of my colleagues asked me if I knew of a way to solve one such task: copying legends to multiple sheets. Legends are one of those rare view types in Revit that can exist on multiple sheets, but as is common with Revit it’s not necessarily easy to make sure views appear in the same location on each sheet. While it’s not a huge deal, it’s a little distracting when you’re going through the pages of a PDF and you see these similar views jumping around with each page flip.

I started by creating a quick macro that allowed you to select a legend view and then copy it to multiple sheets, making sure it stays in the same location and keeps the same viewport type. This seemed to work fine and solved the problem for that team, but macro’s are easily portable so we transitioned it into a proper Revit addin. We will often use schedules, particularly key schedules, as general notes on sheets so while we were recreating the macro as a plugin we added the ability to work with schedule views as well. Even though schedules can be copy/paste aligned from sheet to sheet, we thought having a single command to do similar actions was preferable.

To use the plugin, go to a sheet that has the legend or schedule view and select it before running the command.  It will then provide the above form to select which sheets you want to apply the view.  The schedule copying part of the command is using API functionality introduced with Revit 2014 so the 2013 version only copies legend views while the 2014 version will copy legends and schedules.

Excel2R Add-in for Revit: Import Spreadsheets to Tables

From the Autodesk Exchange Apps website...

Excel2R imports MS Excel spreadsheets to Autodesk® Revit® Architecture / Revit® MEP / Revit® Structure projects with its design settings. Such data can be synchronized with the original MS Excel spreadsheet at any time.

This Revit plug-in significantly speeds up Revit project documentation process:
  • Keeps stable & strong link between MS Excel and Revit project;
  • Creates/updates table in Revit drafting view according to the selected MS Excel table settings. Location of the imported MS Excel file is stored in Revit project;

CBS Schedule Importer Add-in for Revit

From the Autodesk Exchange Apps website...

The purpose of the CBS Schedule Importer is to create Autodesk® Revit® rooms and populate or update the Revit room parameters with values from an Excel file containing a schedule of accommodation.

A standard CodeBook Pro Project database is created during the import process. If doing a one off import, this file can be discarded. However, if retained, it can be used, on a future occasion, to update the previously imported rooms with changes made to the source Excel file.

The CodeBook Pro Project database can also be used with the CodeBook Pro software, taking advantage of the full functionality of libraries, templates and synchronization that CodeBook Pro provides.

Process:

  1. Create the Excel schedule of accommodation.
  2. Select the Excel file and define which Excel column should be mapped onto which Revit room parameter.
  3. Define the target CodeBook Project database details.
  4. Run the import.

 Alternatively, rather than using a schedule of accommodation created in Excel, a template file can be created from an existing Revit model. Additional columns of data can be added, or values edited. This can then be used to update the Revit project, taking advantage of the convenience of data editing with Excel.

BIM Helper Tools for Revit

From the Autodesk Exchange Apps website...

The application consists of several modules, which can be obtained separately.

Batch print enables you to send various sheets to multiple printers to create and maintain print profiles, apply these profiles to multiple sheets and stores these as selection sets.

Element data manager manage element selection sets, store these sets in the current project/view. Export element data, import element data file from excel file, to update parameter values.

Parameter editor enables you to create, modify, and delete (shared) family parameters, in batch mode. Also the actions performed on families can be saved in an .xml format so they can be applied again to a different set of families at a different time. It is a very powerful tool for companies who build their own content, the amount of time that can be saved is tremendous.

Library browser is an intelligent family browser; you can search your libraries on various criteria. A sample library has been added to the installation folder, but obviously you can add your own library paths as well.

Subcategory editor is similar to parameter editor and enables you to create, modify and delete subcategories in batch mode. Also the actions performed on families can be saved in an .xml format so they can be applied again to a different set of families at a different time.

Free "Labs: SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Generation" Add-in for Revit

From the Autodesk Exchange Apps website...

The 3D rebar model created by SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Generation shall serve as an automatically generated recommendation which fulfills the required reinforcement and which can be modified and further refined by the user.

Design requirements from construction codes and company standards can be controlled by user-defined rules similar to the approach used in expert systems. Visualization of existing and required reinforcement further support users to ensure their quality of work.

SOFiSTiK Reinforcement Generation reads analysis results directly from the SOFiSTiK database (.cdb) as well as from Autodesk® Revit® Results Packages. In case Revit Results Packages are selected as data source, only walls and slabs are supported in the current version.

It is worth mentioning the software is not oriented to create reinforcement with a predefined configuration, in these cases other means can be used to accelerate the modeling process such as the Revit Extensions.
