Leveler: “The Ultimate Tool to Control Levels and Grids”

Summary

Leveler is a productivity add-in for Autodesk® Revit® developed by W7k that provides a focused set of tools for managing levels and grids more efficiently. Its primary value is helping users change element level assignments without unintentionally moving elements in the model. In typical Revit workflows, changing a reference level can require careful offset calculations to keep elements in place. Leveler automates that process by recalculating and applying the correct offsets, allowing users to reassign levels while preserving existing element elevations.

Core Purpose

The add-in is designed for Revit modelers, BIM coordinators, project teams, and production users who need better control over model levels, level names, and grid naming. It is especially useful on projects where elements were modeled against the wrong reference levels, where level naming standards need to be cleaned up, or where multiple levels and grids must be renamed or adjusted consistently.   • Reassign reference levels: Change the level associated with selected elements while keeping their physical location and elevation unchanged.

  • Closest-level assignment: Automatically assign elements to the closest level based on their elevation.
  • Closest level above or below: Assign elements to the nearest level above or below their current position, depending on the desired modeling standard.
  • Move level assignment up or down: Change selected elements to the level above or below their current reference level.
  • Rename levels: Use tools to rename levels through menus, find-and-replace operations, upward or downward renumbering, and prefix or suffix additions.
  • Edit multiple levels: Move multiple levels at the same time, which can help when making coordinated adjustments to project datums.
  • Rename grids: Apply similar naming operations to grid lines, including menu-based renaming, upward or downward renumbering, and prefix or suffix additions.

Free Grid Manager

When working with BIM models, it is very likely that a model needs to update certain grids or level names during the project's lifetime. If the dimensions of the project are relatively large, then the task of renaming the grids and levels becomes tedious. Autodesk® Revit® plugins attempt to make tedious tasks simple and straightforward. Therefore, this tool provides a shortcut for editing the project grids. Use Grid Manager for renaming your project's grids swiftly. This plugin allows you to define a base name for your grid lines and either a numeric or alphabetic increment.

For example:
  • Base name: "Axis " + Increment: numeric, starting with 1, produces: "Axis 1", "Axis 2", "Axis 3", etc.
  • Base name: "Axis " + Increment: alphabetic, starting with A, produces: "Axis A", "Axis B", "Axis C", etc.

Free ReviTea Grid/Level

Trim and Extend tool doesn't work with Grid and Level. Extent end of Grid and Level have two modes: 3D model extent mode and 2D view specific extent mode. It's not easy to switch between two extent modes and drag their ends, especially if there are lots of Grids or Levels. It's tedious to click one by one to show or hide bubbles of many Grids or Levels. ReviTea Datum tools could make your work easy.

  • Trim Grids tool works similarly to the Trim and Extend tool of Autodesk® Revit®. With it you can easily trim or extend one or more Grids to a boundary defined by Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line.
    • Trim/Extend Grid 3D: Trim or extend Grid 3D extents to the reference (Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. Grids 2D extent will switch to 3D extent.
    • Trim/Extend Multiple Grids 3D: Trim or extend multiple Grids 3D extents to the reference (Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. The extent end of a Grid that is close to the boundary is trimmed or extended. Grids 2D extents will switch to 3D extents.
    • Trim/Extend Grid 2D: Trim or extend a Grid 2D extent to the reference (Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. Grids 3D extents will switch to 2D extent.
    • Trim/Extend Multiple Grids 2D: Trim or extend multiple Grids 2D extents to the reference (Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. The extent end of a Grid that is close to the boundary is trimmed or extended. Grids 3D extents will switch to 2D extents.
  • Set Grids 3D Height: Set Grids 3D (model) extents in vertical direction by defining levels and offset.
  • Trim Levels tool works similarly to Trim and Extend tool of Revit. With it you can easily trim or extend one or more Levels to a boundary defined by Grid, Reference Plane or Detail Line.
    • Trim/Extend Level 3D: Trim or extend Level 3D extents to the reference (Grid, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. Levels 2D extent will switch to 3D extent.
    • Trim/Extend Multiple Levels 3D: Trim or extend multiple Levels 3D extents to the reference (Grid, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. The extent end of a Level that is close to the boundary is trimmed or extended. Levels 2D extents will switch to 3D extents.
    • Trim/Extend Level 2D: Trim or extend a Level 2D extent to the reference (Grid, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. Levels 3D extents will switch to 2D extent.
    • Trim/Extend Multiple Levels 2D: Trim or extend multiple Levels 2D extents to the reference (Grid, Reference Plane or Detail Line) as a boundary. The extent end of a Level that is close to the boundary is trimmed or extended. Levels 3D extents will switch to 2D extents.  
  • Switch Bubbles can show or hide multiple Grids/Levels bubbles according to a boundary defined by Grid, Level, Reference Plane or Detail Line.
