The Week that was in Revit and Navisworks Add-ons for May 15-21, 2017

The week of May 15, 2017 was a very busy one on Revit Add-ons as we posted 30 new articles.

New

From the Autodesk App Store, for Revit add-ins, we posted about Classify, for managing assembly codes, doXenter Transfer, for transferring large files for free, the free OpenMultipleViews, for opening selected views from the Project Browser with one click, and the free Transfer Family Parameters, for copying parameters from one family to others.

Based on our recent poll, this is the first week that we're also covering Navisworks add-ins, and, from the App Store, we posted about the free BIMCAVE Auto Search Set, BIMtrace, for overlaying site photos on models, the free Spools To Search Sets, and Navisworks to OBJ Converter.

Roundup – For May 15-21, 2017, New and Updated Revit and Navisworks Add-ins on the Autodesk App Store

The week of May 15, 2017 was a productive one with regards to Revit add-ins on the Autodesk App Store. Three new add-ins were published, and another twelve were updated, including seven with 5-star ratings.

For new add-ins, Classify is for managing assembly codes, doXenter Transfer is for transferring large files for free, and the free Transfer Family Parameters is for copying parameters from one family to others.

For updates, BIM Batch Suite, CTC BIM Project Suite, Keynote Manager +, the free PCL PartsLab, Reports, and workFlow all received relatively significant refreshes.

Based on our recent poll, this is the first week that we're also covering Navisworks add-ins. Navisworks to OBJ Converter was added and Group Clashes, for automatically grouping and sorting clashes, was updated.

Free Properties+ Add-in Version 2.1.1 for Navisworks – Display Only Desired Model Object Properties

Free Spools To Search Sets Add-in for Navisworks

From the Autodesk App Store:

Search sets can provide useful tools to help the personnel in the field locate a piece of fabrication in the model.  In order for this workflow to be used, the spool names must be located on a property that is exposed in Autodesk® Navisworks®.  An example of this would be on Fabrication CADmep+ parts.  The actual "Spool Name" data is not exposed in Navisworks as a property, but the "Notes" data is.  The same workflow can be used for Revit Elements or any other part that has the spool name on a property exposed in Navisworks.  For more on how to make this process work for you, and for a tool to automatically put the data in the "Spool Name" field into the "Notes" field for Fabrication MEP, see the post "Creating Navis Spool Search Sets".  The "Spool To Search Set" tool will go through the model and find the unique property values on different parts in the model.  This can be done either through a selection, or on the entire model.
