The week of June 5, 2017 was a moderately busy one for Revit and Navisworks add-ins on the Autodesk App Store. Three new add-ins were published and ten were updated.

For new add-ins, AEC Daily Education for Autodesk Revit is a free connection for continuing education and more. Avigilon 3D View Generator allows one to automatically create perspective views in Revit from Avigilon security camera families. 3DRepo4Navis enables the uploading of models from Navisworks to the 3drepo.io cloud platform.

Of the updated add-ins, IdeateApps for Revit received a relatively significant refresh, having four new tools added for the 2018 release.

Big Rhythm for Dynamo Updates

In recent weeks I have been working on migrating a lot of Rhythm nodes to C# for more stability and easier control on my part. Within this effort, I also generated quite a few new nodes.

Now in Rhythm, you will find a new category called “RevitElements”, with loads of new additions and revisions.

Some of my favorite new nodes are the view and viewport nodes. Lots of access to view boundaries, crop regions, and location data!

A little while back I posted this clever little trick to obtain the crop region element from a section view.

Essentially it is normally “-1” of the view’s ElementID, but not always! Well, luckily I have been getting more into creating C# nodes for Dynamo and there are some pretty fun options within.

In order to create useful and intuitive virtual tools, we often think about the end-to-end process of how a spatial concept develops into a completed building project. This includes the process of making physical scale models, which are effective at communicating complex space but are time consuming to keep up with iterative design changes.

In our latest update to Prospect, we reimagined our virtual equivalent of the physical model - Scale Model Mode - and enhanced its capabilities.

What is Scale Model Mode?

Scale Model Mode lets you view a virtual rendering of your model in the same way that you would view a traditional, physical model.
