Roundup – For the Week of September 18, 2016, New and Updated Revit Add-ins on the Autodesk App Store (Updated)

Nearly 90% of the Revit-related add-ins listed as being updated on the Autodesk App Store during the week of September 18, 2016 were, in reality, false positives.

One of the services that we provide here on Revit Add-ons is winnowing down the list of apparent updates to actual updates, and that can make a big difference in some weeks, as in this one.

As to why so many add-ins are erroneously listed as having been updated when they apparently weren't, this could be down to...

• The developer not providing an accurate version number
• The developer indicating an update in the App Store database when none was actually issued, perhaps to move the add-in to the top of the list on the page, or...
• An App Store glitch

As a third party, however, we have no idea why this actually happens, but happen it does, frequently. Rest assured though that we here at Revit Add-ons will continue to look out for you by attempting to make our lists of updated add-ins as accurate as possible using the available version information.

That being said, several new add-ins debuted on the App Store this week: one for real-time 3D animations, OneRay RT, one for placing an Excel range in a drafting view, BIMWERX - Draw Spreadsheet, one for quickly toggling the display of imported CAD files, ON / OFF CAD Imported Drawings, and, lastly, one for adding low voltage electric power cable instances, Electric Power Cables (EPC).

Several add-ins were updated to Revit 2017: ClarkDietrich Wall Type Creator, Curtain Modeler, Reforma Swing Direction, and Switch Join Order.

Updated 10/5/2016 to include the latest version of CADTracer.

BIMWERX - Draw Spreadsheet Add-in

From the Autodesk App Store...

This add-in allows the user to open a spreadsheet, using the .xlsx or .csv file format, and then to define a selection / region to insert into an active Autodesk® Revit® Drafting view by creating an external link (using DXF), then inserting it as an external link into the active Drafting view.

There are many add-ins available that can import spreadsheets into Revit using Schedule views, which requires a parametric link to model elements, but very few (if any) that can insert any spreadsheet table data into a Drafting view using the methods mentioned above.

This allows the user to insert virtually any table region into Revit, which can then be placed onto Sheets.

Speaking of Autodesk Account, Luke Johnson posted handy instructions for downloading subscription enhancements on his What Revit Wants blog. No new Revit-related add-ins were added to the Autodesk App Store during the week of August 28th. However, numerous add-ins were updated.

The ExportMaster and ImportMaster line of add-ins from TransMagic received an update notification system.

A couple of add-ins, Export Schedules and Auto Floors Builder, were updated to Revit 2017.
