Free Webinar November 19 — BIMxt Network: Generative Design in Practice

Topic: BIMxt Network - November 2021

Description: Generative Design in Practice

Sofia Malmsten and Erik Forsberg

They will be talking about making generative and algorithmic design accessible to more people through a modular approach. What that means is how certain parts of a complex design logic can be split up into parts with lower complexity that can be tailored to specific needs and preferences. An concrete example is how different scripts can be used depending on the detail level required at a specific stage. In the early staged we compare volumes and footprints - while in the later stages we need to solve more specific and detailed challenges. Generative design can be used throughout the whole design process, but in different ways.

Sean Fruin

The term ‘generative design’ has a loose meaning that encompasses various algorithmic methods like parametric modeling, optioneering, optimization for solving design problems. This presentation will present a range of MEP problems that can utilize these different computational approaches.

The BIMxt Network brings together experts and practitioners using building models to discuss pertinent issues of the day. This is a fun, lively and interactive networking event that connects experts, fosters an online community of peers, and provides somewhat of a therapy session for modeling professionals.
