Template Projects Now Available in AGACAD Framing Softwares for Revit
From the AGACAD website:
NEW FEATURE: Template Projects in Framing Software for Revit – the Biggest Splash of the Summer!
July 13, 2017
By Ieva Janulevičiūtė
Wood and Metal Framing software for Revit has been enhanced once again to save you time on probably the least “fun” process – documentation. After getting so many user requests, from now on you will not have to create new sheet templates in every project over and over again. Interested? Read on!
In previous versions of our Wood Framing software for Revit, after creating an assembly with automatic dimensions and tags, users had to drag views to the sheets and then set those Sheets as Templates to create other Assemblies within that project. Then, when users would start the next project, configurations remain and could be used straight away. But the Sheet Templates had to be created in each project for every configuration from scratch.
In the new versions of Wood Framing software, we’ve managed to enhance this workflow: you will not have to create new sheet templates for your assemblies anymore, as you will be able to use the existing ones from the Template Project.

Announcing A Step Toward the Future of Automatically Making Structural Things
From the Autodesk BIM and Beam blog:
Announcing Autodesk Structural Precast Extension for Revit 2018, a notable step toward the future of automatically making structural things
By Dan Peticila
July 12, 2017
Autodesk brings into play a new automated workflow for the precast concrete industry. The Autodesk Structural Precast Extension for Revit 2018 is a BIM-centric offering for modeling and detailing precast elements that promotes productivity and precision for engineers, detailers and fabricators working on typical building projects in the precast industry. As an app for Autodesk Revit software, Structural Precast for Revit provides Revit users access to powerful tools for automatic rule-based segmentation, reinforcement, shop drawings and CAM files generation of precast planar concrete elements. The app is available on the Autodesk App Store.
Leveraging the concept of Parts, which support the construction modeling process by letting you divide certain elements from the design intent model into discrete parts, the app provides the opportunity of having one single source of truth for various personas that need to work with the model. This way, designers’ and fabricators’ perspectives are respected and various Levels of Development can be displayed – two key benefits of embracing a Revit-based workflow for Precast projects.

Pre-Populating Families for the COBie Extension and Classification Manager Add-ins
Prepopulating your Families for the COBie Extension and Classification Manager
Jul 7, 2017
By Jason Kunkel
Out of the box, the Autodesk COBie Extension for Revit and the Autodesk Classification Manager for Revit add-ins will not function in the Family Editor workspace. What that means is that you cannot use the add-in buttons to assign settings or classifications when you are not in a Revit project.
However, if you want to set up your families with the default appropriate parameters and start adding data BEFORE they are in a Revit model file, there is a pretty easy way to do that.
